Z.I.P camp is a one-week summer camp where we teach 9-12-year-olds about the basic FIRST Lego League challenge. Our programmers spent 1-2 hours each day teaching Python programming basics such as variables, if statements, and while loops. We found this important to teach as Python is the stepping stone in the programming aspect of each first program. We were able to teach students about the benefits involved in the FIRST program, this experience also allowed our younger team members to develop into leaders of tomorrow.
For the past 4 years, our team has hosted a live-stream webinar series called Z.I.P Talks on YouTube. Z.I.P Talks is a one-on-one interactive and engaging platform where we discuss various aspects of the FIRST Tech Challenge. Each webinar has a different topic and primarily has team members conversing with a guest speaker with expertise in the field. We plan to continue this by having Z.I.P Talks with more FIRST Officials to cover differing topics and motivate more teams!
